- Once offseason transactions are recorded, all applicable Mendoza player contracts for inter-league MLB trades or free-agent signings will be voided, and final auction and position eligibility assignments made
- Players are assigned to the three preseason auctions on a random basis.
- The supplemental auction that follows the preseason auctions combines all players not bid on in any of the original auctions into a single final auction.
- If a player does not receive any bids in the supplemental auction, he will be made available in the Instant Auction. The Instant Auction enables an owner to take ownership of a player and assign him a roster spot at the league minimum salary of $0.25
